Nicotine is highly addictive, and the habit of the hand-to-mouth motion adds to the difficulty of quitting. Plus, tobacco marketing leads people to believe that e-cigarettes, hookah, and smokeless tobacco are safe alternatives to smoking.
If you’re helping — or wanting — a loved one or friend to quit, remember that most people take 5 - 7 tries to quit before succeeding. Your encouragement and the tools, confidence, and support of the Quitline are the best chance for someone to quit for good.
